The nose sits at the centre of the face, and a small difference in its shape can change the balance of every other feature. Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose so it fits the rest of your face and, when needed, can also improve breathing. Here is what you need to know, clearly and without over-promising.
What is rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is surgery that changes the shape, size or proportions of the nose. It can correct a bump, a wide or drooping tip, asymmetry or a crooked nose. If you also have breathing problems, such as a deviated septum, they can often be treated in the same operation. The goal is not a standard “perfect” nose but a natural one that suits your face.
Who is it for?
- People unhappy with the profile or shape of their nose
- People whose nose is crooked after an injury
- People who breathe poorly because of the nose’s structure
- Adults whose facial growth is complete, in good health and with realistic expectations
Open or closed technique
- Open rhinoplasty: a small incision between the nostrils gives full visibility, useful for complex cases. The scar usually becomes hard to see.
- Closed rhinoplasty: all incisions are inside the nose, with no visible scar, suited to certain corrections.
Prof. Dr. Qasim chooses the technique after examining your nose, skin and breathing.
The operation and recovery
Rhinoplasty is usually performed under general anaesthesia and takes a few hours, depending on complexity. A splint protects the nose for about the first week. Swelling and bruising around the eyes are normal. Most patients return to desk work and social life after one to two weeks, and to sport after a few weeks, with the surgeon’s approval. You receive written aftercare instructions and regular follow-up.
When will I see the final result?
The change is visible once the main swelling settles, after a few weeks. The final shape, especially of the tip, keeps refining for up to about a year.
How much does rhinoplasty cost?
The price depends on the complexity, the technique and whether breathing is corrected at the same time. That is why we do not quote a single price before an examination: at your consultation you receive a clear quote covering every stage.
